What a washout involves
Sweep and remove debris
Loose material, dunnage, banding and pallets out first. Washing over debris just relocates it into the water you then have to recover.
Wash walls, floor and ceiling
Hot water and detergent across every interior surface, not only the floor. Residue on walls and ceilings transfers onto the next load, which is the failure most washouts miss.
Rinse and recover
Thorough rinse, then the rinse water is vacuumed out of the trailer rather than allowed to run out of the rear doors onto your yard and into the drain.
Dry and inspect
The trailer is left dry enough to load. A wet dry-van floor damages cardboard packaging, so this step is not cosmetic.
Where the wash water goes in Katy
Katy's newer commercial and industrial parks drain to engineered detention ponds that discharge into the Buffalo Bayou watershed. A wash running to the nearest inlet is putting detergent and hydrocarbon into that pond, on a property with a named owner and a stormwater permit. Sealing the inlets first is what keeps a routine fleet wash from becoming a reportable release.
Containment is not a line item on the quote — it is how every job runs. Drain seals and booms close the inlets before any water moves, a vacuum system recovers the water from up to 200 feet out, and it transfers into a 500-gallon tank on the wash vehicle that leaves with the crew.
